Atomic-Resolution Structure of Ribosome-Nascent Chain Complex During Translation Arrest
Using single-particle cryogenic electron microscopy at 1.8 Å resolution, we elucidate the structural mechanism whereby regulatory nascent peptides interact with the ribosomal exit tunnel to induce translational arrest and modulate downstream gene expression.
Reveals conformational locking within the ribosomal polypeptide exit tunnel that can be targeted by next-generation antimicrobial peptides.
